My Favorite Chocolates

Some people are just chocolate whores. They don’t care what kind of chocolate they eat – they just want all the chocolate they can stuff into their fat fucking mouths.

On the other hand, you have people – like me – are are very picky about their chocolate. If it is cheap chocolate – or bad chocolate – I don’t want it. I want the good stuff and I’m not willing to lower my standards and eat just any old chocolate. If it’s not Godiva chocolate or Ghiradeli chocolate, I’m not interested. Keep your damn Hershey bars and store brand chocolates – I don’t want them!

I’m not a truffles fan, either. I don’t even like the Toblerone chocolates – they are not my idea of a good chocolate. I have eaten some Lindt truffles a couple of times – not impressed, but I didn’t spit them out into the garbage, either. I just wouldn’t go buy any of that on my own. I’ll hold out for the good stuff.

Hump Day – Yay!

The weeks where you have to miss a day because it is a holiday and then Tuesday feels like a Monday but you have to work twice as hard to catch up for the day you missed are the hardest ones on me. Its nice to have a day off, but the catchup day is brutal and Wednesday doesn’t really feel like the halfway point any more. Do you know what I mean?

So, yesterday I worked hard playing catch up and even stayed an hour late so I didn’t have a pile of shit waiting for me this morning. Wednesday was almost feeling like a Wednesday by lunch time. The afternoon sailed by and next thing I knew I was home and trying to figure out what to fix for dinner.

Tomorrow will be so much easier and I will be glad to have this week behind me. I’m already anxious for the weekend.

Birds vs Squirrels

K-Mart had some cute bird feeders on sale so I bought three of them and hung them up in the yard. The bird seed was only about $10 for a great big bag, so I filled the feeders up and every once in a while I look out my window and see some birds at the feeders. I think once the feeder is filled up it doesn’t need a refill for about 5 or 6 days. It also depends on if it is rainging or not. If its raining the birds don’t visit the feeders, but the squirrels do.

I looked out back today and say three squirrels raiding the bid feeder that I put in the backyard. Those little fuckers were cleaning it out of the large sunflower seeds and kernels of corn, and spilling all the smaller seeds onto the ground. The problem with the seeds falling onto the ground is that they get wet from the rain and the dew, and then the birds won’t eat the seeds.

I don’t mind the squirrels getting some of the food – they have to eat, too. But it pisses me off to see all those small seeds on the ground being wasted. I have to figure out a solution to this squirrel problem.

No Helmet is No Excuse

On Saturday I saw some kids riding through the neighborhood on a minibike. That was different, because for one thing there aren’t any kids in my neighborhood and for another thing its not legal to ride minibikes on the street with traffic. And these kids were not wearing a helmet, either. I wonder what the hell their parents are thinking by letting them ride a minibike in traffic and not even have on helmets.

I don’t want to be a Debby Downer, but that just seems so irresponsible to me. Kids are precious and although they will do a lot of stupid and dangerous things, it is the parent’s job to make sure they don’t break any laws and that they are kept as safe as possible. Everyone knows that riding a bicycle or a motorcycle is not safe without a helmet. I can’t be mad at the kids for doing it – I blame the parents – and especially if there is any kind of accident and either of those kids gets hurt!

Called My Mom

Really glad that I called my mom today and wished her a Happy Mother’s Day. She was busy all day with my brothers and sisters and I’m the only one who lives too far away to be able to come for a little party or a nice dinner. So I called her and we talked for about 20 minutes. That was really nice. She is an awesome person and I’m lucky to have her as a mom.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!
