I went outside this morning and found out I have a flat tire. Motherfucker, this sucks. Now I have to buy some new tires, because I haven’t done it in a while and my spare is not very good. How in the fuck am I going to go out tomorrow if I have to buy tires now? Shit, shit, shit this is such a pain. I was supposed to go out to the movies to see Contraband with my sister. I want to see that movie so badly. It looks like it is going to be awesome. Mark Whalberg and Kate Bekinsale are two of my favorite actors and they are both in this movie.

That can only mean one thing, the movie is going to ROCK ! Mark is so hot, and all of his movies are action packed just the way I like them. I love the explosives and guns going off with high speed chases all over creation. It is like chocolate for me. I know I am a chick and supposed to like mushy chick flicks, but I just can’t do it. I have to have lots of thrills in my movies. I can literally count on one hand the number of chick flicks I actually like or have even seen.

Bad Hair Days

Christmas and New Year’s messed up my schedule a lot this year. I like to get a haircut every 4 weeks. I can go 5 weeks if I have to, but after 5 weeks i start having bad hair days and get really pissy about not getting my hair cut. So, of course, Christmas fell on the scheduled week and I couldn’t go. And then the week after Christmas the woman who style my hair took off for vacation because her kids have no school that week. So now here it is going into the second week of January and I still have not got my hair cut. I’m sick of the bad hair days – I NEED a hair cut!

Hangovers and Resolutions

Last night was a helluva party downtown. There had to be over 100,000 down on the riverfront jamming to Lynyrd Skynyrd and waiting for the clock to strike midnight.

What sucked about being downtown was not being able to actually bring your own bottle of champagne with you and have a champagne toast. Unless you went into one of the really crowded bars or restaurants and drank it inside the bar, you could only cheer or kiss someone close to celebrate.

I kinda missed the champagne toast. We’ve done that every year of my life that I can remember – as far back as only 4 years old. My parents would let us stay up and have a tiny sip of champagne while we watched Dick Clark on the TV. I miss those days.

Funny but True

In this digital age, people are taking great liberties with their photos. first of all, there is Photoshop, which lets you edit, enhance, fix or whatever you want to call it, any photo. And somehow the photo that people use on the profiles always look great. Compare that profile photo to their drivers license photo and you can end up with a totally different photo. And then, if you have the chance to actually meet them, face to face, what you see in real life can be another look altogether.

Tea or Coffee?

My morning routine includes a hot cup of coffee. My night time routine includes a hot cup of tea. I am becoming such a creature of habit, but I really count on these to relax and focus. I would much rather sip on a hot beverage and cradle a warm mug in my hands than stand outside a back door by trash cans and smoke a cigarette.

Runners Drive Me Crazy

Why do people think they are entitled too buy $200 “running shoes” and short sateen pants, and don’t forget the MP3 players tucked in that cute little armband, for Chrissake, and then they run up and down the streets?

Why do people think it it OK to run along a crowded side street and clog up the traffic who have to slow down to make sure the runner doesn’t do something stupid, like run out in front of their car because they can’t hear your car for the music blaring in their cute little earbuds?

OMG – I hate runners. take your skinny asses to the track at the school or to the parks. Stay off the streets and out of my way!

Too Much Fun!

Wow! What a great weekend I had! Not only did I have a blast every day, but the weather was perfect for everything and we had an extra day to have the fun because of Labor Day. In fact, I was so tired and ragged yesterday that I couldn’t even get online last night – I just fell out on the couch and next thing I knew it was daylight!

Careful With those Bargain Playstations

A guy I know loves everything technology and digital. His house is a wall to wall electronics hoarders paradise. He has old TVs, old computers, old DJ equipment, a wall of speakers and all kinds of goodies all over his house. That Hoarders show try to come in there and throw out anything and there would be war. Just saying.

So I asked him about this bargain price I saw on the internet. A Playstation 3 for just $120. The last one I bought was $300, so I wondered what was the scam? come to find out, some people are buying the Playstations, breaking them open, taking out the Blu-Ray stuff and then reselling the Playstations at bargain prices. What a scam! I KNEW there was something wrong going on. Be careful, friends.

Quick – Name Some Coffee Brands

Sometimes we are sitting in a small group waiting for something or someone and conversation lags. This is a great time to bring up a subject where everyone can contribute. Today, I asked the group, “Name some coffee brands.” Wow – would you believe that the first brand called out was NOT Starbucks? The first one was Maxwell House. I was amazed!

Back in the Day

The tools of the trade from just a dozen years ago or so. Old school editing and paste up was tape, scissors, glue, straight edge. We even had a light blue pencil that the copy machine could not read so you could write notes on the original. I loved the white tape that came in a roll and was exactly wide enough to cover a line of type. The good old days!

Skunks on the Prowl

When I stepped outside tonight with my dog for her nightly walk, there was an immediate bad smell that hit my nostrils. I knew right away that distinctive smell meant that there was a skunk nearby. I had a flashlight with me and used it to scan the shrubs and sides of the house. I didn’t see the skunk, but we cut our walk short, just to be safe. I hope that skunk goes elsewhere tomorrow night. I don’t want that kind of trouble!

May Day Celebration

My nieces go to a sweet little private school near their home. My sister is very active with the school, she goes once a week as a volunteer for a teacher, and she helps with all their activities, like sports events and fund raisers.

This year the Kindergarten and First Grade put on a show for a May Day celebration, and I was invited to come watch. They dressed up in frilly dresses and knickers, then they sang old timey songs and danced around a Maypole. It was really cute!

Rainy Days

Since when did we become so afraid of the rain? It seems like every day there is a break-in to the TV programming warning people about approaching thunderstorms. I say, bu deal! It’s just another thunderstorm, people! It’s OK to get wet. Yes, storms sometimes have wind and hail. Get over it!
