Love My Nook

October 10, 2012 at 12:03 amCategory:Business | My Life | Technology

What a nice surprise waiting at my door today – a box from UPS that has a brand new Nook in it! I ordered it last week and didn’t know how long it would really take to get here. Since I didn’t pay extra for expedited shipping, I figured it would take a week to 10 days to arrive. But it got here on the fourth day after I ordered it at night online.

The Nook has to charge up the battery and then the battery life is really long – the booklet that came with it says the battery can last about 2 weeks without needing to be recharged! That is awesome and I hope that turns out to be true. The weird thing is that there is no way to turn off the Nook, so the battery life is not extended by turning off the device. That’s a little weird to me – especially if there is any kind of GPS device or app on the Nook that tracks where I am. That’s kinda creepy to think that you can’t turn it off and some with bad intentions might be tracking you. Ick.

Hump Day – Yay!

The weeks where you have to miss a day because it is a holiday and then Tuesday feels like a Monday but you have to work twice as hard to catch up for the day you missed are the hardest ones on me. Its nice to have a day off, but the catchup day is brutal and Wednesday doesn’t really feel like the halfway point any more. Do you know what I mean?

So, yesterday I worked hard playing catch up and even stayed an hour late so I didn’t have a pile of shit waiting for me this morning. Wednesday was almost feeling like a Wednesday by lunch time. The afternoon sailed by and next thing I knew I was home and trying to figure out what to fix for dinner.

Tomorrow will be so much easier and I will be glad to have this week behind me. I’m already anxious for the weekend.

No Jokes at Work

April 1, 2012 at 5:09 pmCategory:Business | Food | My Life

Did you ever play a practical joke on someone at work? I never did it myself, but I have seen some crazy pranks being pulled by other people. I just have to be careful about what I do at work – I don’t want to ever give those assholes a reason to fire my ass. So I don’t do the horseplay and gossip train.

My little sister told me that she got ambushed today at work. She works at a little gas station and convenience store out in the sticks. They hit a slow period and were bored, so she and a couple of other girls who work there each got a can of whipped cream from the cold case and started spraying the Redi-Whip into each other’s mouths. But then someone missed and got the stuff in the other girls hair and the whipped cream war was ON!

I bet that was fun but I sure hope they don’t fire her dumb ass for horseplay at work. You know they’ve got video tape of everything that goes on in those stores? I bet her boss has a total shit fit when he sees what they were doing. She needs that job, but then again, a girl has got to have a little harmless fun once in a while, too.

I swear the man is a fucktard. My boss just screwed up my entire presentation because he insisted on giving the presentation himself without even reviewing it first. He was trying to take credit for my work, but it backfired on him. Unfortunately we may have lost the account we were trying to get and I am praying that I don’t get the ax because I put the presentation together. It wasn’t my fault the man was and idiot and didn’t even go over it with me first. I was supposed to do the presentation, not him.

Oh well, what ever happens, happens. I can always go to the big boss if they try to fire me and attempt to explain. Not that it matters, as I have an impeccable resume. I have had four different companies try to lure me away from where I work to go with them. ¬†So I am going to take my happy ass out to lunch early and not worry about it. I think I will go to Applebee’s. I love their lunch specials. They have that pick and pair lunch option that is awesome. So, I am going to go enjoy a nice lunch and let my boss stew over his¬†asinine behavior.

Love Amazon Except for Clothes

If you want to buy music, movies, books or any electronics, you should always check out Amazon for the best prices. In a lot of cases, Amazon carries stuff that you cannot even find locally. But their clothing selections are awful and way too expensive. I would have to be desperate to buy clothing from Amazon. As long as I can still get to the malls around here, I’ll never buy clothes online.
