Bad Hair Days

Christmas and New Year’s messed up my schedule a lot this year. I like to get a haircut every 4 weeks. I can go 5 weeks if I have to, but after 5 weeks i start having bad hair days and get really pissy about not getting my hair cut. So, of course, Christmas fell on the scheduled week and I couldn’t go. And then the week after Christmas the woman who style my hair took off for vacation because her kids have no school that week. So now here it is going into the second week of January and I still have not got my hair cut. I’m sick of the bad hair days – I NEED a hair cut!

Hangovers and Resolutions

Last night was a helluva party downtown. There had to be over 100,000 down on the riverfront jamming to Lynyrd Skynyrd and waiting for the clock to strike midnight.

What sucked about being downtown was not being able to actually bring your own bottle of champagne with you and have a champagne toast. Unless you went into one of the really crowded bars or restaurants and drank it inside the bar, you could only cheer or kiss someone close to celebrate.

I kinda missed the champagne toast. We’ve done that every year of my life that I can remember – as far back as only 4 years old. My parents would let us stay up and have a tiny sip of champagne while we watched Dick Clark on the TV. I miss those days.

Chicken and Waffles

There is a favorite way to end a night on the town when you are partying out on the West Coast. In L.A. there is a famous chain of restaurants that serves up chicken and waffles. A lot of celebrities like to stop by the chicken and waffles shop in Hollywood. I think they have 5 or 6 locations now and other people are opening imitations. I hear that San Francisco has at least two chicken and waffle restaurant knock-offs.

Love Amazon Except for Clothes

If you want to buy music, movies, books or any electronics, you should always check out Amazon for the best prices. In a lot of cases, Amazon carries stuff that you cannot even find locally. But their clothing selections are awful and way too expensive. I would have to be desperate to buy clothing from Amazon. As long as I can still get to the malls around here, I’ll never buy clothes online.

Chef Ramsey and the F Word

Have you ever watched any of the Chef Ramsey cooking shows? That man used “fuck” and a ton of nastiness when he talks to people. Its more than just being vulgar – he is flat out abusive. He might be a good business man and a great chef, but I can’t stand that guy. There is no way anyone in real life would get away with talking to me like he talks to the kitchen staff and restaurant owners.I don’t put up with that.

Funny but True

In this digital age, people are taking great liberties with their photos. first of all, there is Photoshop, which lets you edit, enhance, fix or whatever you want to call it, any photo. And somehow the photo that people use on the profiles always look great. Compare that profile photo to their drivers license photo and you can end up with a totally different photo. And then, if you have the chance to actually meet them, face to face, what you see in real life can be another look altogether.

Too Many Awards Shows

Is it just me or are there awards shows on TV just about every month now? That’s just crazy! Do we really need all these awards shows? It’s just the same people traipsing up the red carpet in ugly dresses, over and over again. For all the money those women spend on getting dressed, most of them turn out ugly. How hard is it to get an opinion opinion form someone at the dress shop about what looks good on you?

Raking Leaves

The best part of this time of year is the leaves that turn bright colors. It is amazing to me that just a few degrees lower in temperature can trigger a beautiful fall display of color everywhere we look. Most states in the U.S. have some trees that turn color. Only a few stay brown year round, such as Florida. I believe all the other states do have some parts of their state that have fall color. If I am wrong about that, let me know.

Trash Bags

Years ago I found a huge rectangular trash can that fits perfectly in the kitchen corner. I use it all throughout the day for all my trash except what I recycle. Of course, I use a large green or black trash can liner to make it easy for removing the trash and taking it outside to the large dumpster.

The problem is that the can is oversize and the regular trash bags are 32 gallons, and are too small to fit around the entire opening. I have to use the 39 gallon size – and they are hard to find. Thank goodness Sam’s Club carries them, but I have to buy a huge box of them at Sam’s. Then again, that’s what Sam’s Club is all about – huge quantities at a cheap price.

Tea or Coffee?

My morning routine includes a hot cup of coffee. My night time routine includes a hot cup of tea. I am becoming such a creature of habit, but I really count on these to relax and focus. I would much rather sip on a hot beverage and cradle a warm mug in my hands than stand outside a back door by trash cans and smoke a cigarette.

Bathroom Gear

When I see the new designer bathrooms with a pedestal sink and a large empty room free of clutter, I have to wonder – where do those people put all the bathroom stuff? I mean, there are drawers and shelves of shampoo, soaps, sponges, cleaning stuff, scrubbing stuff, buffing stuff, pampering stuff. . . I have boxes of it and no where to put it all!

Bad Spinach

Do you remember a couple years ago there was this big scare about people getting sick from eating spinach? How bizarre is that? I mean, spinach is supposed to be one of the great healthy things for you to eat. So you ate eating spinach and thinking you are so good for doing the right thing, trying to eat healthy and all. And then, Bamm! You get poisoned from the spinach!

Runners Drive Me Crazy

Why do people think they are entitled too buy $200 “running shoes” and short sateen pants, and don’t forget the MP3 players tucked in that cute little armband, for Chrissake, and then they run up and down the streets?

Why do people think it it OK to run along a crowded side street and clog up the traffic who have to slow down to make sure the runner doesn’t do something stupid, like run out in front of their car because they can’t hear your car for the music blaring in their cute little earbuds?

OMG – I hate runners. take your skinny asses to the track at the school or to the parks. Stay off the streets and out of my way!

Stupid Drivers

Passive Aggressive MF’ers

As far as I’m concerned, these people are the lowest cowards out there. They don’t have the balls to stand up and tell you something – they wait until you’ve turned your back and then BAM! You get the knife in the back.
